How it works

1. Add the guide to your browser

The guide is a browser extension: a small add-on for Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a computer. It's free. Get the guide.

2. Go to YourTexasBenefits.com

Open the website the way you always do. Sign in yourself. The guide does nothing on sign-in pages, and it never sees your password.

3. Read each step in plain words

A panel opens next to the page. It tells you what the page is asking for, which papers to have ready, and what to watch out for. You can switch between English and Spanish at any time.

4. Use your saved answers, if you want

You can save answers, like the names of the people in your home or your rent, on your own computer. Next time, the guide can suggest them and show where each one came from. You accept them one box at a time, or type something else. You can see, change, save a copy of or delete your answers whenever you want.

5. You press Submit

The guide never clicks, submits, signs or pays for you. When a page has a button that sends your form, the guide points it out. You decide when to press it.

What the guide downloads

The guide only downloads instructions: the steps and words you see in the panel. It never sends your information anywhere. It never contacts the government website for you. Read our privacy policy.
